Despite a long and trying season for the Central Boys soccer team, they made a great appearance Oct 7-8th in the state tournament. Going into the tournament they had a record of 1-9-1. Even though their record doesn’t reflect their play, they had a great season for being a young team – only one senior, Terry Kampa. Most of the regular season games were only lost by 1 or 2 goals.
In the playoff game, they faced 4th ranked SF Roosevelt and won 3-2 in overtime. At the state tournament they played 1st ranked SF Washington and lost 4-3. The next round they played Aberdeen (ranked 5th) and won 4-3. The last round of the tournament they faced 6th ranked Pierre and won 2-1, which earned them 5th place in the state. The team was also presented with the tournament Sportsmanship Award. Great going boys!!
