Homecoming week is among us! This year’s theme is Blast to the Past. Tuesday, which is 60’s and 70’s day, already has many people talking. The thing is, many students don’t know what they want to wear. No worries, we are here to help!
For sixties day, you may want to think about Elizabeth Taylor’s style during that decade, or maybe think of some movies. A few movies made in the sixties are:
- Psycho
- The Birds
- Bonnie and Clyde
- The Haunting
- West Side Story
- Breakfast at Tiffany’s
But don’t forget about the fashion! Here are a few ideas to help you:

- Box dresses
- Turtle necks
- Go-go boots, like these
- Pumps
- Kitten heels
- Pearl earrings, necklaces, and bracelets
- John Lennon glasses (If you’d thought ahead you could have had these for $5!)
- Hair
- Shaggy
- Long
- Beehive! (See some inspirational examples here)
Now, for the other decade, the seventies. While Rocky and the original Carrie were made in the seventies, a current film, American Hustle, showed much of the style in the seventies. Or even think about That ‘70s Show. Some styles of that era include:
- Hippie clothing
- Knit dresses
- Bell bottom pants (Are you aware how bell those bell bottoms should be? See this for assistance.)
- Flared pants
- Hair
- Long
- Shaggy
- Natural
- Or even an afro
Remember homecoming only comes once a year, so go all out and have fun! We look forward to seeing all of your ideas!
