Activities Dept. to Host “Cobblers for a Cause” 5K Run

In their continuing efforts to raise money for activities, Central High School is hosting the first ever “Cobblers for a Cause” 5K Run/Walk on April 23rd. The walk also includes a Kids 1 mile Fun Run, also starting at 10:00am. Both events begin and end at the south football field of Central High School and registration is $25 dollars, with $5 dollars going to a charity of your choice.

The profits from this event will be available for the different activities programs to apply for, so participants will be helping more than just one program. Funds are likely to go towards things like new VertaMax vertical training platforms for the basketball teams, new weights and machines for the weight room, and new football helmets for the football team.

Central’s athletic director Darren Paulson has high hopes for this fundraiser, saying that he expects a large turnout since there are no other events or activities planned for that day. Why a 5K? “After participating in fundraisers all over Rapid through the years I’ve noticed a great turn out in 5K styled events,” Paulson said. “And I really wanted to bring that success to Central High School’s fundraising program.”
