Mrs. Linde’s Family Gets Bigger

Welcome to the world Sawyer Jackson Linde!

By Sydney Hagel

Mrs. Linde, a science teacher here at Central, had her baby on August 30, 2016. Sawyer Jackson Linde was born at 8:31 A.M., in Rapid City Regional Hospital via Cesarean section. Mrs. Linde has eight weeks of maternity leave, and she will miss almost the entire first quarter of the school year.

On average a baby’s weight at birth is around 7 pounds; but Sawyer weighed a whopping 11 pounds, 8 ounces and measured 22 inches long. “He is definitely a big boy,” Linde commented via email. With Mrs. Linde being a type 1 diabetic, Sawyer’s blood sugar was closely monitored for 7 hours after birth, but he finished the day with no complications.

Mrs. Linde is excited to introduce the newest feature of her family to the world, and she isn’t the only one; her oldest son, 7-year-old Bohdi, is thrilled to have the title Big Brother. “It has been so much fun watching Bohdi become a great big brother. He is so helpful, and greatly loves his little brother,” Mrs. Linde comments.

For the first quarter of the year, Mrs. Schmidt is Mrs. Linde’s long term substitute. Schmidt is a retired anatomy teacher from Stevens and is excited to meet the Central student body and to be in a new school. Mrs. Schmidt says, “It has been an awesome experience being here at Central so far. I enjoy all of my students and I most definitely love block scheduling for science.” At home with Sawyer, Linde says, “I am very anxious to meet all my students in a few more weeks!”
